Joanna Jurdi

Architect and Educational Consultant

Joanna is an architect and biomimicry practitioner passionate about learning as a never-ending process, especially from nature and what we have yet to discover from its sciences and mathematics. A Lebanese native, her vision is to sensitise her community to the wonder and brilliance that life offers as inspiration for better designs, practices, ways of life, and cultures that are integrated and nurturing.

Graduated from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (Académie Libanaise des Beaux Arts, ALBA) and worked on diverse projects varying from towers, residential complexes, hotels and public spaces; loves working in multi-disciplinary teams, pushing boundaries and suggesting new possibilities. She also co-founded LucidAg, a startup that aims to increase agricultural production while radically reducing the use of fertilisers and pesticides to raise the potential of food security and quality.

Her objectives include questioning the status quo and bridging natural systems, patterns and mechanisms to make them more understandable and relative to design, which is what pushed her to acquire a master’s degree in Biomimicry from Arizona State University. She aims to converge the practice of Biomimicry Thinking for the best practices for implementing Sustainable Development Goals.
